CBP joins HCBFFA to talk Temporary Import Bonds (TIB) and 232 Orders with a special guest briefing from DEA on listed chemicals

Join us for an informative and timely luncheon event as HCBFFA welcomes representatives from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide valuable insight into two key topics affecting our industry: Temporary Import Bonds (TIB) and 232 Orders.

In today’s evolving trade environment, importers who re-export goods are seeking strategies to minimize tariff exposure. CBP will present guidance on the proper use and compliance requirements for TIBs, including:

• Classes of goods eligible under TIB 

• Bond requirements

• Statement of use

• Examinations prior to export

• Closure requirements (including scrap, loss, etc.)

Additionally, CBP will discuss Section 232 Orders, a topic of growing relevance. Anticipated discussion points include:

• Treatment of derivatives for entry

• Valuation (Split 232 & Reciprocal) for Derivatives

• Melt & pour / smelt & cast reporting

• Stacking considerations

Special Briefing from the DEA:
We are also pleased to welcome a representative from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who will provide a brief overview of their new “Green Notice” initiative and its implications for customs brokers and freight forwarders. This will impact shipping of listed chemicals regulated for import/export transactions.
